Donations for 'Planting for a Purpose' Accepted at Titletown Night Market

Paul’s Pantry to accept fresh produce donations on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Titletown Night Market.

With harvest season underway, the Green Bay Packers and Extension Brown County are inviting local gardeners once again to participate in their Planting for a Purpose Program, which encourages community members to plant a garden plot and donate fresh produce to local food pantries.Paul’s Pantry will be accepting fresh produce donations at the Thursday, Aug. 22, Titletown Night Market from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Planting for a Purpose booth. The Market is located at Titletown, just west of Lambeau Field, and Planting for a Purpose will be at booth No. 6.Gardeners are encouraged to stop by and donate, as local food pantries report that there is a great demand for more fresh produce donations to meet clients’ needs. With the late start to this year’s growing season and the erratic weather this summer, pantries are in need of increased donations. Gardeners of all ages, including school-aged children and classroom groups, are still encouraged to sign up for Planting for a Purpose at https://tinyurl.com/producedonation2019 and pledge to donate a portion of their harvest. Locations at which to donate are included on the sign-up sheet.Planting for a Purpose participants help to make sure all community members have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. In 2018, pantries and gardeners reported 15,000 pounds of donated produce.
